Certifications We Prepare You For

The exam-track courses I hold the matching Microsoft certification for — AZ-900, AZ-104 and AZ-305. AZ-104 is the hands-on one: its labs are cloud-hosted, so learners need only a browser and good broadband. AZ-305 is a design course, built on architecture case studies rather than labs. Fundamentals courses run a day; associate and expert courses run four. Every course runs live online, and every delegate's exam voucher is included in the price.

Your exam is included. Every delegate on a course receives one Microsoft certification exam voucher for that course — AZ-900, AZ-104 or AZ-305 — to sit online or at a Pearson VUE test centre when ready. No separate purchase, and nothing added to the price you see. Courses run live online over Microsoft Teams, taught from Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC) courseware by a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). At the end of the course every delegate also receives a Microsoft Learn achievement code, which records the completed official course on their own Microsoft Learn profile. Bam Cloud AI is enrolled in the Microsoft Training Services Partner Program (Partner ID 7138367).

Join an open online cohort. R2,950 per delegate for AZ-900 (one day); R8,950 per delegate for AZ-104 or AZ-305 (four days). Exam voucher included, and for AZ-104 the hands-on lab environment too. A date runs once 4 delegates have booked. Founding-cohort rate — held to 31 December 2026.

Train your team privately. Your own dates, your people only, up to 5 delegates — R11,500 per day: R11,500 for AZ-900, R46,000 for AZ-104 or AZ-305. An exam voucher for every delegate is included. Additional delegates are R1,450 each per day, voucher included; larger cohorts are quoted after a short call.

Prefer one-on-one? Certification coaching at R950 an hour works at your own pace, on your own gaps. Coaching is priced for the teaching alone — coaching clients book their exam directly with Microsoft.

Prefer hands-on, exam-free credentials? See the Applied Skills Workshops — one focused day, a real Microsoft credential, no written exam.

Not sure which option fits your exam or timeline? Tell us what you need and I'll point you to the right one.

Choosing

Which Azure certification should you actually take?

This is the question that costs people the most time, and the wrong answer is expensive in both directions — a certification pitched too low proves nothing to an employer, and one pitched too high burns months and an exam fee. The honest version is short.

Start here

AZ-900 — Azure Fundamentals

Take it if cloud is new, or if your role is adjacent to the technology rather than in it.

  • No prerequisites and no hands-on experience assumed
  • Concepts, core services, pricing models and governance basics
  • Genuinely useful for sales, finance, project and procurement people
  • Does not qualify you to administer anything, and should not be sold as though it does
  • Skip it entirely if you already administer Azure day to day
The working one

AZ-104 — Azure Administrator

The certification most South African job adverts are actually asking for when they say "Azure".

  • Identity, governance, storage, compute, networking and monitoring
  • Assumes you have hands on a real or lab environment
  • The strongest single credential for an infrastructure engineer moving to cloud
  • Heavily practical — reading alone rarely gets people through it
  • The right stop before AZ-305, not a step to be skipped
The senior one

AZ-305 — Solutions Architect Expert

Design rather than operation. It tests judgement, which is why it catches people out.

  • Expert level, and it expects AZ-104 knowledge underneath it
  • Identity, governance, data platforms, business continuity, infrastructure design
  • Case-study style questions with more than one defensible answer
  • The credential that changes what work you are allowed to bid for
  • Where most self-study attempts stall, and where coaching earns its keep

If you are not sure, the useful question is not "which is hardest" but "what do you want to be doing in eighteen months". A short conversation settles it faster than a comparison table. Tell us what you need.

Method

How the coaching runs

Live and instructor-led, one to one or as a private team group. Not a video library with a forum attached — those already exist, most of them are free on Microsoft Learn, and they are not what people are failing for lack of.

Built around the exam skills outline, not a slide deck. Microsoft publishes the measured skills for every exam and revises them. Sessions follow that outline, in the weighting Microsoft gives it, so time is spent in proportion to what is actually assessed rather than in proportion to what is interesting to teach.

Hands on, in the cloud, on your side of the screen. Labs run in Microsoft's cloud, so all anyone needs is a browser and a stable connection. Two screens help — or a laptop and a phone — but nothing needs installing and no powerful machine is required.

Recorded, with follow-up material. Every session is recorded and comes with the follow-up resources for that topic, which matters most for the people doing this around a full-time job at seven in the evening.

Taught by someone who ran the estates first. Thirty years in enterprise infrastructure since 1996, most of it inside a large South African financial services group, before any of it became a training subject. The worked examples come from estates that existed rather than from a courseware scenario.

Delivered by a Microsoft Certified Trainer. MCT status is not decoration — under Microsoft's rules a trainer may only facilitate a course where they hold the matching certification. AZ-900, AZ-104 and AZ-305 are the ones held here, which is exactly why they are the ones offered and nothing else is.

Straight answers

What it costs beyond the coaching, and how long it takes

The exam is included in every course. Open-cohort and private-group courses include one Microsoft exam voucher per delegate, at no extra charge. Coaching is priced for the teaching alone: coaching clients book and pay for the exam directly with Microsoft through Pearson VUE, at the published price for their country.

Timelines depend on where you are starting. Someone already administering Azure who needs AZ-104 structure and exam technique is usually weeks away. Someone coming from on-premises infrastructure with no cloud exposure is usually months. Anyone quoting you a fixed number of weeks without asking what you currently run is guessing.

Employers can often recover part of the cost. If your company's payroll exceeds R500,000 a year it pays the Skills Development Levy every month, and a fifth of that is claimable back against a compliant Workplace Skills Plan and Annual Training Report. Certification training is exactly the kind of planned training those documents record. How the levy works — and what it does not require.

If a certification is not the right answer, you will be told. Sometimes the honest recommendation is a hands-on Applied Skills workshop instead — one focused day and a permanent Microsoft credential earned in a lab, with no written exam and no months of preparation.

Where. Courses and coaching run live online over Microsoft Teams, worldwide. Custom workshops can also run in person for corporate groups across Cape Town, the Western Cape and the rest of South Africa. Based in Durbanville; South African Standard Time is GMT+2.
